Abortion Hurts. BEN FOLDS Talks About It in “Brick”

Abortion Hurts. BEN FOLDS Talks About It in “Brick” January 21, 2015

Ben Folds - BrickThis is sort of a bonus track.  Each day this week, as we count down to the 42nd anniversary of the passage of the infamous Roe v. Wade abortion decision which legalized abortion in all fifty states, I’ve been posting a song about abortion.

On Sunday, I kicked off the series with Faith Hill‘s “A Baby Changes Everything.”  (Well, okay, this one isn’t really about abortion–it’s about the birth of Christ!  And yet you can see how relevant it is to the subject.)

On Monday we listened to “Lucy” by the Christian band Skillet, which shows how abortion hurts men, too–and not just women.

Tuesday’s post featured Lauryn Hill.  Early in her career, Lauryn had found herself in an unexpected pregnancy; and disregarding the advice of her friends, she chose to give the baby life.  “To Zion” is about her great love for her firstborn son.

This morning’s reflection came from John Elefante, former lead singer for the rock band “Kansas.”  Elefante produced the single and accompanying video “This Time” in thanks for the birth mother who gave birth to his adopted daughter Sami.

I had planned to end it tomorrow, as the March For Life in our nation’s capital reminds us of the horror that is abortion.  That is, until my son asked if I’d remembered Ben Folds.  I wasn’t aware of the song “Brick” by the Ben Folds Five, which shows the sadness felt by a young man whose girlfriend has aborted their child.  So, here is one more!

Thanks, Jerry, for the lead!
