Theological Women
For a much more exhaustive list of female theologians, take a look at Maggi Dawn’s post. But I’ll list a few here:
Hildegaard of Bingen (12th Century, German)
Héloïse – famous for correspondence with Peter Abelard (12th Century)
Clare of Assisi (13th century Italian)
Julian of Norwich (14th century) “All shall be well…”
Dorothy Sayers – crime writer, theologian, poet. Author of Creed or Chaos? (colleague of C. S. Lewis, 20th century)
Carolyn Custis James – theologian and author of The Gospel of Ruth, Half the Church: Recapturing God’s Global Vision for Women, Malestrom, and others focusing on women’s role in the Kingdom of God and the “blessed alliance” they have with men to fulfill God’s purpose together.
