What’s Your Hat? One Teen’s First Sermon Illustration

So whose lives were changed? In one way, God changed Nate’s heart by showing him a glimpse of divine glory. In his trip journal, Nate recorded these thoughts about the event: “Ok, so yesterday was eye-opening. After a nap, we invited a bunch of kids over for a Bible club. I got to speak the message for it, and oh my gosh did God answer my prayer. I prayed that he would show me my impact, and he just laid it on me. Twelve of the eighteen kids prayed to be forgiven. They came to Christ before my eyes.”

Using a simple illustration, declaring a profound but simple truth, a young man faced down his fears and obeyed God’s call to proclaim Jesus before that group of kids. And he saw God show up. The other changed lives? Twelve kids—for eternity. Two-thirds of the group responded to the gospel message.
