I teased out the cover reveal a few weeks ago, and now the book itself is available. For $2.99, download your copy of Starstruck, the latest romance from Carla Laureano. It looks to be the first in a series of clean contemporary romances called Discovered by Love. What’s it about? The back cover copy reads in part:
Novelist Christine Lind has achieved her lifelong dream—a string of best-selling books and a cable-TV adaptation about to go into production. But on her way to London FanFest for the cast reveal, disaster strikes: their leading man is injured in a motorcycle accident… and his replacement is the one person she hoped she’d never seen again.
Nick Cleary has clawed his way to recognition as a Hollywood actor, but it’s long past time he get the chance to show he’s more than a pretty face and a chiseled set of abs. His big break comes in the form of a juicy lead role in a new steampunk fantasy series. There’s just one catch—casting has to be approved by the author… a woman he once devastated through his own youthful stupidity.
Laureano first came across my reader radar with her contemporary novel Five Days in Skye. Set in Scotland—always a plus for me—the full-length novel riveted me for hours. I re-read it a few weeks later and found it just as good. The sequel, London Tides, came along a couple of years later. So London is a nice second-place to Scotland for me, and the characters once again kept me enthralled. Laureano isn’t afraid to cover difficult subjects, and she has a talent for penning a pulse-thrumming kissing scene that won’t offend readers. She keeps it interesting but clean, and not many romance writers can do that well.
Last year, she moved from London to Denver with her Saturday Night Supper Club, in which a successful chef confronts the writer who ruined her business. He tries to make amends, but the sparks… Mmm. The lead character, Rachel, has two close friends whose stories will be told in turn. The first sequel arrives next February. Keep your eye out for Brunch at Bittersweet Café, featuring Melody the pastry chef and Justin the pilot, two people falling in love yet on opposing career paths.
There you go—a few new books for your holiday relaxation and enjoyment. Remember, Starstruck is only an e-book. You can find the other full-length novels in paperback form as well as e-book.
