Shootout at OK Corral (=OKC)

Shootout at OK Corral (=OKC) February 27, 2016

I’m an NBA fan. Tonight at Oklahoma City, the two best offensive teams in the NBA–the Golden State Warriors and the Oklahoma Thunderbirds–with the two best offensive players in the NBA–Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant–duked it out in overtime. The two teams were tied in overtime as Curry made a 32-foot swisher at the buzzer for the Warriors to get the W.

It was one of the most thrilling regular season games to be seen. And it was truly a shootout at the OK corral. Prior to overtime, OKC’s Durant had made 7 0f 9 three-point shots, and The Warriors’ Curry had made 9 of 12 three-point shots. Durant fouled out early in overtime. Curry made 13 of 9 three-point shots for the whole game to set an NBA record of most three-point shots made in a game. He previously had tied the record with twelve.

Stephen (“Steph”) Curry is a very devoted Christian. When he makes a shot, he often points his finger up, referring to God. Actually, there are several Christians on both of these teams. Durant and Westbrook often speak of being “blessed” or “a blessing.”

Golden State won the NBA Championship last year. When Warrior Andre Iguodala won the MPV award for the finals, in his presentation speech he said, “I want to be like Steph.” What a great tribute to a teammate.

In the 1995-1996 season, Michael Jordan’s  Chicago Bulls set the NBA record for most wins in a season–72 out of a total of 82 games (not counting the playoffs). Golden State is now poised with the best chance of any NBA team since then to tie or beat that record. So far this season, they have won 53 games and lost 5. If they continue at that pace, they will win 75 games and soundly beat the Bulls’ record. And they’ve got more home games remaining that road games, which are harder to win.

Many PGA Tour golf fans say this is such an exciting time to watch pro golf. It’s also such an exciting time the to watch the NBA.
