U.S. President Donald Trump is right about his constant public use of the terminology “Fake News.” He’s the fake, and the news media is just reporting about it. That’s Fake News. He’s the fake because likely draft dodger poses as such a U.S. patriot. But this week he has been exposed even more as being a guy who doesn’t really believe in our form of government, which is democracy with free and fair elections. He is for subverting free elections as long as it gets him elected. It’s always about him, not about America.
This week has proved it more than any other. It’s why House Speaker Nancy Pelosi–the only person I’ve seen who I think scares Trump so much he’s shaking in his boots–officially announced Tuesday that six House committees were now beginning impeachment proceedings against the president.
What happened this week? Sunday, it was reported that President Trump made a phone call to the new President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, pressuring him to dig up political dirt on Democratic challenger and former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter for Hunter’s former business activities in Ukraine. Then the president released an edited transcript of this phone call. It pretty obviously reveals, to the unbiased mind, that Trump mentioned his withholding of $391 million in foreign aid–mostly military to stave off Russia–as leverage to get political dirt on Joe. That is arguably a crime as a violation of campaign finance laws. But the fact that it involved aiding a struggling democracy and former Soviet satellite that is fighting for its life against the U.S.’s biggest enemy of all time, against whom we survived the Cold War, is most astonishing. And then to think that this phone call, on July 25th, occurred the very day after Special Counsel Robert Mueller testified before Congress about his two-year investigation of Russia meddling in our 2016 presidential election, which Trump won, is so flabbergasting! It’s as though there is no bounds to which The Donald will not exceed in whatever he wants to do to promote his own self interests. He obviously believed that he had been exonerated of wrongdoing, that is, possible collusion with Russians during the election campaign, and now would carry on with the same activity for which he had been investigated.
This story for the week goes on and on so much that it is mind boggling. As soon as White House lawyers heard what Trump said in this July 25th phone call, they quickly moved to have the electronic record of it stored away in a special place to hide it further. This act proved that they thought it was damning to the president. Yet the president released the transcript of it thinking he had no problem. He had said repeatedly that he did nothing wrong and that it was “a perfect call.” Wrong! That was not the right call, at least for Trump. It could ultimately land him in real serious trouble.
Trump also said again this week that the Dems move on impeachment is just more Witch Hunt. I think Trump is right about this, also. He’s the Witch!
I get a lot push back for making such criticisms in my blog about President Trump. I wouldn’t do it except the man deserves it due to his behavior and mouth. He is a serious threat to our democracy, and he needs to be removed from office because of it.
