Did Trump Know and Approve Putin’s Plan to Take Over Ukraine

Monday, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin ordered his troops amassed on Russia’s border to invade Ukraine. He had been saying he was not going to invade Ukraine, and that was a lie. Most pundits thought he would only take the provinces of Donetsk and Luhansk, which Russian soldiers are now doing. But they reportedly also have been bombing airports and such all over Ukraine. Putin also threatened Western countries in a speech on Tuesday, “To anyone who would consider interfering from outside: If you do, you will face consequences greater than any you have faced in history.” He seems to have meant his use of nuclear weapons because he also said, Russia “is today one of the most powerful nuclear powers.” Now we are getting real serious.

Former President Donald Trump had a very suspicious relationship with President Putin. It caused U.S. intelligence agencies to question at first if Trump was acting in behalf of Russia. President Trump pressured Ukraine President Zelenskyy to produce detrimental intelligence on Joe Biden’s son working with Ukraine, but Zelenksyy did not. Trump even withheld nearly $400 million in U.S. aid to Ukraine due to its problem warding off Russia. That seemed to have been against the Constitution’s role laid out for the president. The U.S. House of Representatives therefore impeached Trump for that phone call, but the Senate acquitted him.

Donald Trump is an extremely vengeful man. He likely would take vengeance on Ukraine if he could due to Zelenskyy having refused to cooperate with Trump’s request.

Tuesday, Trump said in a radio interview, “I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, ‘This is genius.’ Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine — Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful.” He further said of Putin, “He used the word ‘independent’ and ‘we’re gonna go out and we’re gonna go in and we’re gonna help keep peace.’ You gotta say that’s pretty savvy.” He also called it “genius.” Again, this strange praise of Vladimir Putin emerges from Donald Trump. It causes most Americans to be dumbfounded, wondering why he does this.

In Trump’s radio interview on Tuesday he further said of Putin, “I knew that he always wanted Ukraine. I used to talk to him about it. I said, ‘You can’t do it. You’re not gonna do it.’ But I could see that he wanted it. I knew Putin very well. I got along with him great. He liked me. I liked him. I mean, you know, he’s a tough cookie, got a lot of the great charm and a lot of pride. But the way he–and he loves his country, you know? He loves his country. He’s acting a little differently, I think now.”

I suspect Trump already knew from Putin that Putin was going to invade Ukraine, so that Trump’s remarks about it may be deceptive. After Trump was impeached for his phone call to Urkraine’s President Zelenskyy, Trump’s vengeful attitude would have caused him to favor Putin’s Russia invading and taking over Ukraine.
