Trump Is a Big Liar, Except When He Says What He Will Do October 14, 2024

Trump a Great Big Liar

Donald Trump is the biggest liar I have ever seen in my lifetime. And I don’t think he is even a very good liar because he’s not persuasive. He merely tells lies and expects people to believe him. And that is his strategy which has become known multiple times. He says if you tell people enough times what you want them to believe, they eventually will believe it. Yeah, but it’s stupid people who do that. For smart people who have some wisdom, you usually have to try to persuade them with questionable proclamations before they will believe it. Maybe even provide some reliable data. Trump doesn’t do that. He just keeps on spouting his lies—such as that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him—until undiscerning folks believe him.

Founding Fathers Made Voters Own Property

The founding fathers of this nation understood that. They knew that a snake oil salesman, an entertaining cult figure like Donald Trump, can fool imperceptive and indiscriminate people into believing their lies. (E.g., Trump voters are less educated that non-Trump voters.) That’s partly why they made the restriction on eligible voters that they be men who own property. Their thinking was that such people would be more intelligent than the average person and therefore not be as vulnerable to being fooled by snake oil salesmen. John Adams explained on May 26, 1776, “Few men, who have no property, have any judgment of their own. They talk and vote as they are directed by some man of property, who has attached their minds to his interest.” I’m not saying I fully agree with this, but this was one of their reasonings. He also said in this statement, “Women will demand a vote.” But times have changed. In the U.S. now, more women have college degrees than men do.

The Devil Is the Father of Lies

When I think of Donald Trump as being the biggest liar I have ever seen in my lifetime, I think of Jesus saying the Devil is the biggest liar of all. For, Jesus once told his religious adversaries, “You are from your father the devil, and you choose to do your father’s desires. … When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44 NRSV). Folks, this statement by Jesus can’t be twisted and contorted out of shape or whitewashed in some way. Jesus indicated that big liars are from their father the Devil.

Despite the many public lies and misleading statements Trump spouts—The New York Times counted over 30,000 during his four-year presidency, an average of 22 per day—there is one type of statement Donald Trump makes with increasing regularity during this political campaign for the presidency that is not a lie and not a joke so that it can, and should, be believed. It is what he says he will do as president if he regains the White House. And he is being very clear and adamant about it. Now, some of it he may not be able to do; but the fact that he will try is most alarming.

Trump Will Prosecute His Political Enemies

What are these types of statements we can believe from the mouth of Donald Trump if he becomes president again? They includes such things as him telling Sean Hannity on Fox News that he would be “a dictator” on the first day of his presidency. He says his administration will execute “vengeance” and “retribution” upon his political enemies. Trump has said he will do this by causing the Justice Department to prosecute them. He said yesterday that either the National Guard or military should be called out for Election Day next November 5th.

Concerning the economy, Trump says he will raise tariffs on other nations even more than he did during his first presidency. Economists say that will worsen our ongoing battle with inflation, which the Federal Reserve has now almost gotten it back to normal. And economists say that and other Trump economic plans will drastically raise the national debt, which is now at an alarming level that could threaten the stability of our federal bond market and the dollar. This list goes on and on.

In sum, do some serious scrutinizing of Donald Trump’s statements when he says what is, but believe him when he says how he is going to lower the boom on anyone who doesn’t agree with his politics. And for some, he will “lock ’em up.”
