Koepka Wins PGA

Koepka Wins PGA August 12, 2018

Brooks Koepka continued his dominance of the majors in pro golf today by winning the PGA Championship, the fourth and last of the four majors of the year in pro golf. It gives him three major wins in the last six majors, with two of them consecutive U.S. Open wins. He is on an incredible streak, and it looks pretty easy for him. The muscle-man started the day with a two-stroke lead over Adam Scott and never relinquished it.

Tiger Woods, fourteen times a major winner, brought additional excitement to the game today by grinding out a 64 even though he missed a lot of fairways. Tiger had shot 66 on both Friday and Saturday. He overtook Scott to finish alone at second.

It is fantastic what Tiger Woods has accomplished this year after four back surgeries. He had serious doubts about whether or not he would ever even play golf again, let alone get back on the PGA Tour and then contend in major championships. In the past two majors,–the U.S. Open and the PGA–Tiger was either leading or one stroke behind on the back nine on Sunday. Today’s performance surely assures the Ryder Cup co-captain that he will also be playing in the elite affair come next month.

For most of the day, it looked like Brooks Koepka just had to ward off Adam Scott in order to muscle his way forward with his big biceps obtained in the gym to remain at the top of the heap. But even though Scott kept manufacturing those low bullet drives that are so impressive to watch–like Arnold Palmer used to hit–Adam wasn’t able to sustain his brilliant play the back nine as he finished alone at third.

Actually, Koepka could have ran away and hid from the field. But on the back nine, he missed several birdie putts of 10-12 feet. Once again, just as he did in his two previous major wins, he looked like he didn’t have a nervous fiber in his body. And he appears to never get mad. He’s just always in cruise control. And he doesn’t take much time to play his shots, especially when he putts. He makes the game look so easy.

Brooks Koepka now has a pro golf career like no other. Today was the 100th PGA Championship, and it was his 100th tournament on the PGA Tour. He has won three majors and only one other tournament on the PGA Tour. In Brooks’ victory speech, he said the majors seem easier to him because each shot is so important and more difficult than in other tournaments. He said he’d like to figure out how he can have the same attitude in other tournaments.

Folks, I’ve never heard of that before. It has always been the other way around. This guy has something in his head that is out-of-this-world. Maybe that’s it–BROOKS KOEPKA IS AN ALIEN!
