It’s Time for Americans to Decide The Future of This Country

It’s Time for Americans to Decide The Future of This Country August 17, 2016

No matter where I am in the country, I meet people who understand the importance of self-governance. When I ask them if the bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. should decide what’s best for them, the answer is a resounding, “No, I should decide.”

That’s not something learned, it’s born out of our American spirit. What we’ve learned throughout history is that when societies turn over their individual rights, tyranny reigns. That’s what makes America so great. Freedom and liberty are inalienable rights protected — ensured— by our founding documents. But those rights are slowly fading everyday as the federal government grows.

And it’s growing bigger by the second. With out-of-control spending, a debt crisis, bloated and unnecessary regulations, loss of state sovereignty, and a blatant disregard for the checks and balances built in to our Constitution. The power has shifted away from “We the people” and has become “We in Washington.”

But our Founding Fathers knew this could happen, and so they supplied a solution. It’s a solution many of the rugged individualists I meet all all across America aren’t even aware of. It’s called a Convention of States and it’s our only recourse in reclaiming the power that rightfully belongs to us.

It’s up to us. We either sit back and allow the federal government to control our every move or we stand on the shoulders of our Founding Fathers and fight for what’s rightfully ours.
