Various Prayer Requests

A reader writes:

My sister Erin Manning, author of the blog: And Sometimes Tea and occasional sit-in for Rod Dreher, was taken to the hospital Saturday night with odd back and leg pain and extremely high blood pressure. They kept her all day yesterday and are (hopefully!) releasing her today, (Monday, January 12th). She’s on medication, but no one seems to know what happened or why, so there’s still work to be done. Her whole extended family has been storming heaven, but more prayers are always welcome.

Lord, hear our prayer!

A very good friend of mine died Friday night in a motorcycle accident. He was a good man. He was an excellent police officer, and was ordained a Lutheran pastor in the ELCA. When he died, he was working for a group that helps the homeless. He leaves a widow and two sons. His name is Richard Shireman. Your prayers would be appreciated.

May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace in Christ.

Also, a friend of mine called to ask for prayer for his teenage son and their family, who are struggling with various mental health issues, possibly springing from the boy having been abused at school when he was very young. Your prayers would be deeply appreciated for this good and valiant family.

Father, hear our prayer for healing, strength and grace through Christ our Lord. Mother Mary, pray for us!
