The Prophet Chesterton remarks that revolutionaries generally can spot what’s wrong with the previous generation. What they have a harder time doing is knowing what’s right. Emergents have some very salient critiques of older Evangelical practice and piety. Some of them appear to be using that knowledge to create forms of spirituality even shallower and more trend-driven than their parents.
