1) Camille Paglia’s latest Salon article is very Interesting, and quite sensible:

2) Albacete has written a few things on one of the CL websites (on Obama, Health care reform, etc etc.):

3) I am asking for prayers for Conor Dugan, a friend of ours who is part of John Egan’s SoC group. He has an aortic aneurysm — basically a bulging of a blood vessel — and is scheduled to have open heart surgery on August 14 to repair the aneurysm. If you could pray his successful surgery including that the surgeon is able to spare his valve — that is keep his native valve in and not have to put in a tissue or mechanical valve — he greatly appreciate it. If you could also pray for his successful recovery, his surgeon Dr. Duke Cameron and his medical team, and his wife Laurel, children, Gianna and Michael, and his parents, sister, and inlaws in this time of need, he’d greatly appreciate it.

Conor has a particular devotion to Venerable Solanus Casey and has been asking his intercession for a surgery saving cure and barring that his prayers for a safe and successful surgery. Also, a good friend suggested asking St. Joseph Moscati, the first modern doctor canonized, to seek God’s aid for his
surgeon and his medical team.

Conor will be out of work for 6-8 weeks while he recovers, so please keep the prayers coming.

Father, grant healing to Conor through your Son Jesus Christ. Venerable Solanus Casey and St. Joseph Moscati, pray for him, the doctors and all who love and care for him. Mother Mary, pray for him!
