Honest atheist embarrassed by the New Atheists

Michael Ruse laments that intolerant foaming zealots like Dawkins and Myers are giving atheism a bad name. He’s perfectly right, of course. And if he pays attention to the history of mass atheist movements, he will notice a certain tendency to spill oceans of blood toward which they tend to gravitate with startling speed. That’s because the human race is fallen and has devised various strategies, religious, cultural, and political, for trying to impede our downhill slide. Most of these strategies drink from the well of ancient human wisdom to some degree. One of them is actually revealed by God, who perfects, not destroys, human wisdom.

Militant, ignorant, persecuting Atheism is the brilliant idea which says, “I’ve noticed that diseases like sin and immune systems like religion tend to be associated. In fact, sometimes immune systems actually become diseased themselves and become part of the problem, as with lupus! Therefore, let us eliminate the immune system! That will fix everything!”
