what I think about French Catholic schools welcoming Muslims.
I think it’s great. For the first time in history, we are seeing large number of Muslims being exposed to a Catholic education in an environment where Catholics are perceived as friends and even protectors and not enemies. Muslims, being remarkably like human beings, respond to things like love, truth, goodness and beauty much as other human beings do.
I reckon there are probably Fortress Catholics upset by this. But I say, “Tough”. The faith is supposed to do corporal and spiritual works of mercy like “Instruct the Ignorant.” Muslims deserve a Catholic education like anybody else. And I much prefer that Muslims be exposed to Catholic teaching than that they (or Catholics) be exposed to either hard-boiled French secularism or a madrassa.
So I’m four square in favor of French Catholics teaching Muslims.
