Catholic Church in trouble…

…for being Catholic.

And I say, “Good!” Because I am outraged–OUTRAGED!!!– that not only does a Catholic school not welcome and celebrate a coach in a same sex marriage, it also does not welcome and celebrate a PE instructor who is Jolly. I can’t tell you how many times supposedly “tolerant” Catholic schools have turned down job applicants for Physical Education positions merely because they were Out and Stout. As though not being “physically fit” oneself (whatever that temperanormative buzzword means) somehow automatically disqualified us from teaching students the material or made us inadequate role models for students.

I think the job of a PE teacher at a Catholic school is to teach students to be proud of how God made PE teachers to be of all shapes and sizes, not to put them through rote exercises that inculcate an outmoded mindset about “health” and “ideal weight”. It is shocking to me that the Catholic school system continues to model this conformist mindset.
