My wife has an “emergency” ultrasound today. I’m a little unsure of what the “emergency” is, but the doctor just called and said it has to be today. She is considered “hi risk” b/c of complications in her last pregnancy, so we’re submitting to the doctor’s request to have it done today.

I am asking for prayers for my husband, D. His lovely, sweet, generous mother is suffering from ALS (a/k/a Lou Gehrig’s) and the strain on all in the family, especially my father-in-law, is bordering on overwhelming. She has been in the hospital/assisted living since the beginning of 2009, and every day she inches closer to her eternal reward. If the disease itself and its diminishing of her body weren’t bad enough (she cannot walk, or feed herself, and can no longer talk), it’s also beginning to affect her memory. Today, my father-in-law said she has trouble recognizing/remembering who my husband is. He has been incredibly stoic and prayerful through all the ups and downs of her condition, but this was a blow that cut to the quick.
So please pray for him, his family, and especially for his mother, who is enduring much suffering with tremendous dignity.

My aunt is in critical condition and may die any time now. My uncle and one of their kids is with her, but two of their kids are away at college. I guess my prayer is that she’d last long enough for them to get back and say goodbye, and that her end would be a peaceful and happy one in the arms of her Savior. If God chooses to heal her miraculously, I certainly won’t complain; but neither do I expect it.
Thank you for your prayers!
Father, hear our prayer for each of these people and their specific needs. Grant them the grace, healing, strength and consolation to go through these trials in union with your Son, that they may attain the Promised Land to which you are leading them. Mother Mary, St. Luke and St. Gerard Majella, pray for them!
