What’s so striking about this and the grotesque “No Pressure” ad is how the makers of both ads, living in their completely insular bubbles, seem to have not the slightest clue about how menacing and thuggish they appear to normal people. Like the NY Times film critic who literally did not know a soul who voted for Reagan and was stunned by his landslide election, these ads appear to emerge from minds hermetically sealed from any contact with people who do not share a total faith in their utter self-righteousness. These are the sort of people who do the cultural spade work for totalitarian Ministries of Truth. They have rendered themselves incapable of coping with any point of view that is not their own because, like the Pharisees, they are utterly certain of their moral perfection and afraid of contact with those who would defile them.
