One of the many absurd things said during the recent Corapi fiasco (on more than one occasion if memory serves) was, “If they bring down Corapi” (because, of course, it was unthinkable that Corapi was bringing himself down) “then it will spell the end of the Last Priest with the Courage to Tell the Truth!”

Um. Don’t be ridiculous. There are thousands of priests, religious and laypeople quietly and courageously serving God all over the world. So, for instance, Fr. Denis Lemieux has started a blog dedicated to promoting familiarity with the work of an obscure little priest named “Benedict XVI” who, I am told, is every bit as orthodox and fine a proclaimer of the gospel as Fr. Corapi was reputed to be. Perhaps those who believe that The Last Real Preacher of the Gospel is gone might consider looking at Benedict’s fine work and finding hope that the Church of Christ is not nearly as dead as one might think.
