A reader writes:
Are you able to explain this article to me?
If the writer can grasp that the suspect is utterly delusional about his status as a doctor, why can’t it also be pointed out that he is equally delusional about being female? Or, if we accept that “he” can change into “she” by personal declaration, then why doesn’t self- identifying as a doctor make him one?
Beyond the fundamental explanation that Sin Makes You Stupid, there is the slightly more elaborate commentary on that basic fact. In the words of Gary Larson’s Far Side: “Yes, gentlemen. They’re fools. But the question is, ‘What kind of fools are they?'”
In this case, it appears the writer is the kind of fool who is willing to believe that wilful human fiat changes biological reality, but who draws the line with utter religious fervor when money enters the picture. A man deluding himself that he is a woman only affects trivialities like the fate of his soul. A man calling himself a doctor and “treating” somebody cuts into medical profits in the transgender trade. We can overrule the DNA in our bodies with a firm application of fantasy and technology. But when you get to money, now you’re talking reality.
