Prayer Requests and Praise Reports

Prayer Requests and Praise Reports December 8, 2011

There’s a bunch today, so buckle up prayer warriors.

First a reader writes concerning Tia, the two year old who had swallowed a battery a couple of weeks ago:

The most recent news I heard of Baby Tia is that they did the other surgery and she is off the respirator and breathing on her own! God is so good!! Thanks for all the prayers! Keep the prayers coming for complete healing…

Father, hear our prayer for Tia’s complete healing through Christ our Lord and thank you for the progress she has made! Mother Mary and St. Luke pray for her, her caregivers, and all who love her! Amen!

Another reader writes:

Several weeks ago I sent you a prayer request asking that you and your readers pray for my mother-in-law to keep her position at work, and thus remain the sole breadwinner for her family. I just wanted to report that my mother-in-law is still employed, and the danger of her losing her job has passed. While she is still having difficulties at work, I just wanted to thank everyone who prayed for her, and of course thanks be to God!

The prayer request I have is actually for my father-in-law. He has been in somewhat precarious health for many years, but he was recently diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. They think that some of the medicine that he was taking for his other health issues could have damaged his liver, and now it is likely that he will need a liver transplant in the not too distant future. I’ve been praying a St. Andrew’s Christmas Novena for his health since November 30th, and I would be truly grateful if you’d post this prayer request. Thank you for your kindness and consideration, and God Bless.

If you’ve never heard of the St. Andrew’s Christmas Novena (I hadn’t until very recently), it consists of praying the following prayer 15 times a day from the Feast of St. Andrew (November 30th) to Christmas.

Saint Andrew Christmas Novena

Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in piercing cold. In that hour, vouchsafe, O my God! to hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of Our Saviour Jesus Christ, and of His Blessed Mother. Amen.

Father, thank you for hearing our prayer for my reader’s mother-in-law. And thank you for all my readers who pray so faithfully. Glory to your Name for prayers answered. Hear our prayer as well for his father-in-law and grant him the complete healing he needs. Mother Mary and St. Andrew, pray for him, his caregivers and all who love him. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Another reader writes:

A few months ago, you kindly posted a prayer request after we learned the IRS might be coming after my husband and a whole lot of other Canadians who didn’t realize they were also American. Well, we’ve just heard good news: the IRS has announced it’s relenting, which is the last thing we expected.

Thank you again for the prayerful support from yourself and your readers — I think it gave us the courage to stand up for ourselves instead of trying to hide, and enough people did it so that even the U.S. government had to listen. Maybe, also, God moved the hearts of the IRS agents . . . after all, He managed to reach St. Matthew.

As my husband says, we’re not out of the woods yet, but it looks a lot better.

Wishing a good Advent to you, your family, and your readers.

Father, glory and thanks to you for miraculous answers to prayer! And thanks again for you people who pray so faithfully! May your Name be praised through Christ our Lord and may you lead your children all the way out of the wood through Him.

Another reader writes:

Thank you so much for the prayer request for Heather last week — it has already done more good than you will ever know. Could you also please post the following one for a terrified woman who wrote in to Beyond Morning Sickness over the weekend:

“Please pray for Gina, who may be suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum for the fifth time under particularly difficult circumstances.”

Father, hear our prayer for Gina’s complete healing through Christ our Lord. Grant her peace. Give skill, compassion and wisdom to her caregivers, and give all who love her grace, strength, peace, and consolation through Christ our Lord. Mother Mary and St. Luke, pray for her and all involved.

Another reader writes:

Dear Mark and Faithful Readers,

Seven months ago I asked for prayers because our house had just burned down. I know you prayed because God has been faithfully answering those prayers so abundantly ever since. Thank you for being part of God’s grace in our lives, and come check out my update on moving back into our brand new house! God bless you!

Father, thank you for hearing the prayers of your servants and restoring this family to a home so wonderfully. May your Name be praised, thanked and blessed through Christ our Lord. And thanks yet again for my faithful readers and their prayer and love. Mother Mary and St. Joseph, pray for this family as they get back on their feet.
