In the words of They Might be Giants… February 6, 2012

I had to forward you this Letter to the Editor from Sunday’s Syracuse Post-Standard. Don’t let your mouth hit the floor when you read the author’s absolutely impenetrable argument defending the sacredness of human life:

Excerpt: “Life is sacred. That is why we educate people about the responsibilities that accompany giving birth to a child. Food, clothing, shelter — “the basics” — are often not thought of when the uneducated suddenly become parents. To that end, preventing unwanted pregnancies and/or terminating pregnancies shows more respect for life than allowing children to be born and neglected.”

Yep. Life is sacred. Let’s show it by terminating pregnancies!

I’m looking forward to her next letter to the editor, in which she staunchly opposes the Obama administration’s order to Catholic employers to pay for health insurance plans providing sterilization, contraceptives and abortifacient drugs – on the basis of, “I do not want the government to direct my life and my personal choices.” Her words, not mine.

FYI…Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25) is a Catholic and pro-life Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives. We’re lucky to have her here in Upstate NY!

To quote the philospher Barbie, “Logic is hard.” Clearly some people have a brain problem situation on their hands when it comes to elementary thinking.

Rain forests are precious and sacred. We must protect them from harm by paving over them.

Endangered species are precious and sacred. We guard them by preserving the precious gift of extinction.
