Periodically, some materialist will try to sell you the Brooklyn Bridge by reducing all that you think, feel, believe and are as a person to purely materialist phenomena. One of the tricks for selling that bit of snake oil is the good old brain scan image, in which your thoughts and feelings are reduced to some colored patches of brain activity.

Not so fast, say a couple of researchers, unles you want to believe that a dead salmon is experiencing intense emotions when researchers show it some pictures.
