Police states, being contrary to the fact that we are free and redeemed human beings in the image and likeness of God, naturally generate more and more absurdity. The fitting and proper attitude of a free Christian soul to such states is contempt for their injustice, pity for their victims, sternness mixed with mercy for their criminal rulers and enforcing goons, laughter at their pretensions, and an iron resolve to cast them down by the power of Spirit and with the weapons of His, not the world’s, warfare.
