If so the wonderful John C. Wright (a founding member of the exclusive and secretive Wright/Shea Mutual Admiration Society) has a terrific post on the art and craft of fiction that you really should read. Whole books are not as good as this. And he generously offers the whole thing for nothing on his blog. What a gift that guy is!
