Prayer Request

Prayer Request February 24, 2014

A reader writes:

I have read your blog for years and years, and join in the prayer requests as they appear.

Now we have one of our own.

Our oldest child, Jacqueline, is thirty. She has been in increasing pain for five months that escalated in the last three weeks, compounded by increasing inability to control her right leg.

After numerous trips to the doctor (and ER), she was admitted for emergency spinal surgery yesterday after an MRI showed lesions on her spine and lungs.

The surgeon removed “growths” that intruded on her spinal cord (T1-T4 area). That has enormously eased the incandescent pain she was enduring.

She has compression fractures all along her spine.

We will have a better idea of what is going on when lab results come back in a few days… but she is probably looking at a combination of radiation and chemotherapy.

She has already started painful physical therapy to regain use of her back, arms and legs. (Thanks be to God that the muscles appear weakened from prolonged enforced inaction, but so far paralysis is limited to difficulty with her right leg.)

We ask prayers for her healing, to keep her spirits up, and for her caregivers.

Thank you, and may God bless you and your family.

Father, hear our prayer for her complete healing in body, soul, and spirit.  Give her caregivers grace, compassion, wisdom, knowledge, skill, understanding, and the proper technology to assist in her healing.  Give her and all who love her grace, peace, consolation, strength, faith, hope, and love.  Mother Mary and St. Luke, pray for them.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
