Prayer Request March 29, 2014

Our family is in need of some extra prayers.

My daughter,Beatrix, has VACTERL association, a collection of birth anomalies that have kept her in the hospital since her birth back in July 2013. We have endured through several surgeries and procedures since then, even making it home for a whole two weeks. But, now we’re back in the hospital…

At birth, Baby Bea’s esophagus did not connect to her stomach. A repair was made, but it eventually failed and leaked. She recovered, but when we eventually went home, a couple of weeks ago, we realized that something else was wrong. A trip to the doctor’s office and subsequent visit to the hospital confirmed our fears — that her esophagus had completely closed due to strictures. Her surgeons in Atlanta couldn’t fix it.  We felt like we were back at square one. She’s never eaten or drank anything by mouth.

So, now we are scheduled to fly to Boston Children’s hospital next week for a few months’ stay in hopes that their surgeons can fix her. We feel very comfortable about these next steps, but need the support that prayers provide.

Our daughter will have a great story to tell one day, all built off of love, prayers, and a bit of medical science. Thanks for any support you and your readers can provide.

Father, hear our prayer for baby Bea’s complete healing in body, soul, and spirit.  Give her caregivers grace, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, compassion, skill, and the proper technology to assist in her healing.  Give her and all who love her grace, peace, strength, consolation, faith, hope and love.  Mother Mary and St. Luke, pray for them.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
