Tuesday morning 15th April at 9:30AM (New Zealand Standard Time – would be, I think, 2:30PM Monday afternoon California time, if you are in the US) I will have an interview with our HR people and my boss. All non-academic staff at the University are going through this process. They are doing layoffs. I am praying that I will not lose my job. At 71, I will not get another permanent job, and have no savings so forced retirement will happen eventually, of course, but will be a major financial strain.

I don’t know whether my job is on the line or not. I would appreciate any prayers anyone could offer up for the interview – for my calmness and presence of mind, for one thing; for the outcome that would please God above all; and for me not to get laid off if that would please God.

Father, grant this man continued employment doing good work as a just wage. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Mother Mary and St. Joseph, pray for him and his family.

Because of some chronic health problems, I’m vulnerable to a particular type of infection. They are always very nasty and debilitating. They make me feel really sick and seem to last forever. One I had back in 2005 nearly killed me. I’ve got yet another one, which means I’m going to have to take more antibiotics. All sorts of horror stories about over-prescribed, over-used antibiotics and antibiotic-resistant “super bugs” are floating around in the back of my head and making me feel even worse. To put it bluntly, I’m frightened. Pray for me, that I may have healing first, but also courage and faith to endure whatever comes and to unite my sufferings with those of Christ on the Cross as we approach this time of recalling his Passion, Death, and Resurrection for our salvation. Thank you.

Father, take away this man’s fear and fill him with your peace. Grant him complete healing in body, soul, and spirit, and keep him in health to the glory of your Name. Grant him grace, peace, strength, courage and consolation and help him unite his suffering to Jesus’ to the glory of your Name and the good of your Church. Mother Mary, and all the martyrs, pray for him. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Please pray for this young man and his family. He was a close friend of my son, his parents are another son’s Godparents, and he will be sorely missed by all of his church, boy scout, and homeschooling families. The Body of Christ is suffering today as we reel from his senseless death. Please also pray for the woman who hit him. Apparently, she didn’t know she’d hit anyone until she was arrested.

Father, grant eternal life to that young man and grant your grace, peace, strength, consolation and hope to all who love him. Grant your mercy to the woman who killed him and give her eternal life that they may one need meet in love in your Kingdom. Mother Mary, pray for them. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Please pray for my mother as well. She’s been in a nursing home for over three-years.

Father, grant her a life of holiness and, when her time comes, the grace of a happy death. Mother Mary, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer request for a lifelong family friend, marriages and baptisms, still in ICU in Vietnam. If you have the chance, of course. God bless.

Father, bring your son and servant home to the people who love him and grant him complete healing in body, soul, and spirit and the proper technology and good care he needs to assist in the healing process. Mother Mary and St. Luke, pray for him and all who love him. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
