A reader writes:
We have a terrible situation going on in my husband’s family. Someone in desperate need of intervention (drug abuse, alcohol abuse and mental illness) lives at my inlaws’ and pulled a knife on my husband yesterday.
It’s hard for me to type this because I’m very angry at this person, while realizing that they need help. I can’t do anything because the person does not live in my house, and the people that can do something about this are in deep denial.
This person was in jail for domestic violence last year. They were also put on a 5150 hold. This person has not calmed down or seen the error of their ways. They’re close to a tipping point.
I’ve left this in the hands of Our Lord. I don’t know what else to do.
Father, hear our prayer for your guardian angels to intervene by the power of your Name and prevent this person from harming anybody. Help this person to acknowledge their need for grace and help and take steps to get it. Protect everyone, including this person, from harm. Grant my reader and all affected by this violence the grace to forgive and let it remain in your hand. Mother Mary, St. Michael, and the guardian angels of these people, pray for them. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
