The majority of vocations in our Diocese come streaming out of our only Charismatic Parish:)

    • I’ll bet that’s because they’re the only ones who really enjoy being Catholic. Everybody else is trying not to praise God but to follow a set of rules, a la After Virtue, chapter 1. (And I say this as a fairly traditional guy who’d love to pray the mass, either in Latin or vernacular, as unself-consciously as charismatics pray and worship.)

I see the straw men are being burned with extra lighter fluid here this morning. Ease up already.

        • Nay, Athelstane. I know whereof I speak. I sing in a couple of traditional choirs and the self-conscious need to “do it the way you’re supposed to” is strong in a lot of the people I sing with and worship with. These men are flesh-and-blood, not straw.

Thank you for pointing to this article. It was a good overview. I dislike when people set up a false clash between Charismatics and others (nobody did this here). Like any part of the Church, rightly ordered, it points to Jesus and the Cross, and brings with it amazing joy.
