Kansas Governor Is Forcing Disabled People Off Medicaid

God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you. – Romans 2:24

Not a few conservative Catholics will argue “But this is a prudential judgment! Abortion is not a prudential judgment”.

True. So think about it. Why is it that “prudential judgment” is always invoked in order to justify ignoring the obviously good and decent thing to do in clear contempt of the spirit of Christ and never to justify doing the Christian thing? Why not approach it the other way round and say, “If we are trying to win hearts to the prolife cause, would it not be better to err (if you want to call it “erring”) on the side of *not* scandalizing normal people by treating the disabled like garbage?”

Normal people look at behavior like this and do not conclude “Abortion is what truly matters!” They look at it and very rightly conclude that “prolife” people care more about dumping on the weak, disabled, and poor than about taking the slightest effort to rally normal people to the prolife cause. They rightly perceive that what really interests the anti-abortion-but-not-prolife pol and his supporters is not the sacredness of *all* human life from conception to natural death, but the use of the unborn as human shields for what are often profoundly inhuman ideological agendas.
