One of the Poisonous Fruits of the Priest Abuse Scandal… February 26, 2015

…is that, like the immune system of an AIDS victim, the Church is now vulnerable to parasitic infections.  It’s hard to make the case that the Church should be allowed to hire and fire according to adherence to Catholic moral teaching when the bishops have done such a bangup job of showing that they don’t care all that much about Catholic moral teaching.

Result: when a bishop who is serious about Catholic moral teaching tries to run his archdiocese in the San Francisco area on that basis, Caesar moves from prosecuting the Church for actual crimes to persecuting the Church for holding moral beliefs that are not fashionable.  There will be a lot more of this.  Homosexualism, backed with the sword of Caesar, will be a militant, persecuting faith.

This is not about gays doing whatever they like on their own time.  This is about forcing the Church to accept and teach the goodness of acts she regards as gravely immoral.
