The alliance with this political subculture is conservative American Catholicism’s parasite. We have lied to ourselves that we were using it to fulfil a prolife agenda when, in fact, it has used us and made us defenders of this filth. Until it can cleanse itself of this, conservative Christianity, including Catholicism, will be crippled and distorted in its witness. That’s why Trump supporters spend all their time and energy defending Trump’s outrages and Trump spends zero time and energy defending the unborn.
