There is no defense for this.  None. And this is, yes, a prolife issue since many women affected by it are pregnant (not to mention it being a gravely and intrinsically immoral act just like abortion and euthanasia).  Impenitent support for it may send one to a different circle of hell, but that will be small consolation.
