Judging the Fruits

So we are past a year into the most prolifeyest administration in the history of ever.  Some of us remember when Constantine Redivivus was going to save us all from certain death at the hands of Diocletian Clinton.  This was the Flight 93 election.  Vote Trump or die horribly in searing pain!!!!  All the stops were pulled out to scare the sheep into voting GOP.

More than this, it was proposed as the election of a beautiful Baby Christian who would magic abortion away and, as ever, if you did not vote for him you were apostatizing from the Faith and were, natch, a babykiller with blood on your hands.

Now that it has been clarified that by “defund Planned Parenthood” the Party of Trump meant “re-fund it to the tune of $500 million–and for the sixth time” it’s a good time to apply Jesus’ advice to the fruits of Christianism:

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit. A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will know them by their fruits. (Mt 7:15–20).

Wolves are, of course, predators.  They kill and eat the sheep.  So Jesus tells us to judge fruits because he does not want the sheep slaughtered.  What have been the fruits of the Christianist liars who tell us to trust Trump and his party of predators while making war on Pope Francis and the Magisterium?

It’s not really complex, is it?  War on the poor.  War on creation. War on refugees. War on working people. War on science. War on law. War on common decency. War for racism. War for misogyny. War for greed.  And freshly re-funded war on the unborn.  So much prolife winning!  If you are a Christian and you still trust Christianist rhetoric and support this pack of wolves, my sole question is, “How dumb can you be?”

Moreover, with the elevation of John Bolton, soon it will be just plain war.  The liar in chief who said he opposed the war in Iraq has just elevated to National Security Advisor a maniac who wants war with the world. This is a guy who even scares the hell out of hawks. He wants war with Iran, China, Cuba, North Korea and is even partial to the idea of it with Russia. He is an unhinged lunatic. And he is now the chief advisor to a cowardly moron who dodged the draft and who badly needs to feel like he is brave. The minute hand just moved closer to midnight and it is long past time Christians realized that the Christianists who have dominated the discourse of American Christianity for twenty years need to be opposed, rejected, defunded, and run out of town on a rail before Anne Graham Lotz‘ prayer for nuclear bombs to fall on US soil is heard, not by God, but by the idiots inviting catastrophe in the Oval Office. It is time for the American bishops and laity to stand up against this cultish freak show and make clear that excuse-making and support for this cult of death now poses a clear and present danger, not only to our country but to the world.

I will get down on my knees and thank God Almighty if we see the year 2020 without the US plunged into a global conflagration of our own making.
