Prayer Request

A reader writes:

I’ve written to you before about my mother-in-law, living with ALS. She passed away at 11:30 this evening, surrounded by her family, and after her priest came and said Prayers for the Dying. The staff at the nursing home where she spent the last two years is remarkable and showed us tremendous compassion as we mourned this evening.

Please pray for my father-in-law, who was married to her for nearly 44 years and who took very good care of her these past years. And for my sisters-in-law, her grandchildren and four young great grand-children, and all who will feel the pang of this loss. And for my husband, whose faith in these trying times amazes me, who is a big bag of tears.

Our hearts are broken, but our faith is in the Lord. She is no longer suffering and for that we give Him thanks and praise.

Father, grant your daughter eternal rest through our Lord Jesus Christ. Grant as well you grace, peace, strength, consolation, and healing to those who love her through the same Christ our Lord. Mother Mary, prayer for her and all us sinners now and at the hour of our death.
