…you are also likely to lie:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lW1DuhBRoUw?fs=1Oh, and if you are willing to lie and murder, you are also likely to embrace this sort of bigotry when the Church stands in your way:
Matt Archbold, with touching naivete, calls this “The Most Anti-Catholic Political Ad You’ll Ever See”. I would suggest adding the words “This Election Cycle” to make that headline more precise. Americans have been capable of much greater anti-Catholic stuff in the past, and I have confidence that the pro-abortion and gay Left have much more potent wells of pure Catholic- (and Christ-) hatred to draw on if you really let them work themselves into a lather.
However, that said, Matt’s basically right: this does represent a new low for the party that used to be on the side of all those Catholic working class stiffs. It deserves everything its gonna get this election.
How sad that the Republican party doesn’t deserve what it’s gonna get this election.
Update: It appears the bigoted Dem ad is aimed at a Protestant pastor in Minnesota and was only stupidly anti-Catholic by virtue of some Dem campaign dumbell who couldn’t decode an image if his life depended on it. A reader writes:
Fortunately, there’s more to this story than initially appears. It’s not meant to be an attack on the Catholic Church, but is instead a (poorly executed) attack ad agains Dan Hall, who is a protestant minister running for office in Minnesota:
(I’m not defending it, btw. Just pointing out that it’s not as incendiary than it seems at first blush to be. Somebody made a big PR gaffe on this one…)
