An interesting bit on how getting to know people can lead to being able to talk, argue, dialogue with them with greater respect and less hatred, even if each side remains utterly convinced about their viewpoint.
I’m unsure of how to encourage more of this in this day and age, but you do see it sometimes when internet personalities that vehemently disagree can be very civilized towards eachother, and good friends and cross post, as opposed to anonymous commenters hating on each other because 3 sentences they wrote has proved that person to be worse than Hitler. It’s funny how the internet distorts voices. I agree that a more irenic approach is better and failure to do that is a fault of mine.
