Prayer Request

A reader writes:

My brother and his wife are going through some terrible marital strain right now. He’s been looking for work for a year now and the financial pressure has really put a serious strain on their relationship. The fact that they have two children under the age of 3 right now doesn’t make things easier. Even though he’s been taking on odd jobs to have some money come in and she still works full time, they have blown through savings and have added debt just to stay afloat. Now they’ve been fighting a lot and had a huge blowout the other morning that has them teetering on the brink of divorce. He doesn’t want this, but I’m not sure her resolve is as firm to avoid such a fate.

So please pray for them that God would preserve their marriage and guide them to a really good marriage counselor that will help them repair their relationship and learn to communicate better AND that my brother would find a good job soon. He’s come so close but lost out to someone at the end and disappointment is just crushing.

Father, grant them the strength and grace to get through this trial. Please provide this man with a job and a steady income. Help them both bring the sin which has bubbled to the surface to you so that they can repent, receive your grace, and come out stronger than they were before in love. Help their children in this crisis, so that they will feel safe and be able to draw closer to you in love. St. Joseph and Mother Mary, pray for them. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ.
