who was kind enough to post some very favorable reviews of Mary, Mother of the Son here, here, and here writes to tell me that he has a new book out called The New Restorationists: A Critique of Frank Viola and George Barna’s “Pagan Christianity?”.
Sez he:
I have actually taken to writing my own book(let) and I thought you might be interested since it is a short refutation of the book “Pagan Christianity” by Frank Viola and George Barna. The latter is the latest and greatest of the fundie “the early church was just like us” endeavors. Essentially they believe we should all be worshipping in houses and sharing our feelings and their approach to history is akin to a yuppie version of Lorraine Boettner with a side order of Alexander Hislop. Since I am not Catholic, I do not necessarily make the same connections you would, but I think it effectively demonstrates their book is high on the hogwash scale and there is nothing offensive to Catholics.
I would also suggest anyone interested get the pdf download for $3.99. It’s a lot easier on the pocket than the $8 plus for a book of less than 100 pages but that’s how it goes on indy printing. ;>)
Check thou it out!
