I think you’ve linked to the blog of Christian writer Alisha de Freitas before; she and her husband recently welcomed their first baby into the world.

Recently Alisha shared this story, written by her brother, of how her mother’s home was nearly destroyed by fire.  Her mother did not have homeowner’s insurance and the family has done what families do: gather together and do the work of cleaning out and rebuilding themselves.

However, as her brother writes:

Now when we are so close to the projects completion we find ourselves just short of the finish line. I know that God has allowed us to come this far because of his grace. I am a proud man, never wanting to rely on others, hard working and not looking for an easy way out. Some questioned why would I want to save this house and my answer, because it is the right thing to do… not the easiest. Not only will the house be restored for my mother, but the house will be able to pass to future generations, allowing them a better start in their lives.

Our funds are depleted, we need just a little help to finish the job.

And there is a link at the post to a PayPal button if anyone wishes to help this family rebuild their mother’s home and her life.  I’m sure that prayers for their mother’s continued recovery and the success of the rebuilding is also very welcome.

Father, hear our prayer for them through Christ our Lord! Amen!
