A reader writes:
My wife, who has developed an irregular heatbeat, will go into the hospital on Monday for Electrical Cardioversion. They will give her some anesthesia and an IV, put paddles on her, stop the heart for a minute, and then restart it in an attempt to reset it to a normal rhythm. By all accounts this is a fairly routine procedure and is done quite often, and I myself have been in tighter straits; but the thought of her wonderful heart stopping even for a minute is terribly distressing. So if anyone can put in a good word for her, it would be greatly appreciated.
Father, hear our prayer for a safe procedure; skill and wisdom and compassion for her caregivers: grace, peace, and strength for all who love her (especially my reader); and complete healing and swift recovery for her. Empower her angels to protect her from all harm and send the Holy Spirit upon her with power to heal in body, soul and spirit. Mother Mary and St. Luke pray for her and all concerned. We ask all this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
