Hello Mr. Shea, I’ve checked your blog to look for an update regarding the progress of Fr. Jim Erving, O.M.I., of Our Lady of Refuge parish in Roma, Texas. Not finding one, I checked online for the parish bulletin … none online. I phoned Fr.’s parish and found that today (Friday) he had a third surgery. The staff did not know the outcome. Please ask folks to continue their prayers for this blessed man of God. Thank you, and those who pray for others, for your/their charity and kindness.

Father, hear our continued prayers for Fr. Erving’s complete healing in body, soul, and spirit. Give his caregivers wisdom, knowledge, understanding, skill, compassion and the proper technology. Give all who love him grace, peace, strength, faith, hope and love. Mother Mary, St. Luke and St. Peregrine, pray for them. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Update:

Mark, this is Liz Gonzalez again, with an update. For the first time in a while I’ve had a chance to read your blog again and saw the question about Jim, making me realize I had never updated you on his condition.

We brought him up to San Antonio last Saturday so that he could recuperate at the Oblate Madonna Residence. He went for his first visit to his new neurosurgeon on Wednesday. Not liking the look of his stitches and wound, the doctor sent him for an MRI. The results were not good. In the two weeks since his first surgery, another tumor grew to the size of a tennis ball. He had surgery yesterday to clean his first wound and to take out the new tumor. This is an extremely fast moving cancer, and the prognosis is not good. We won’t know more details for a few days until he’s recovered from the surgery.

Thank you to all for the prayers. Please continue lifting him, and us, in prayer. God bless.

Please keep praying!
