Sex offenders including paedophiles should be allowed to adopt, Theresa May told

Rules which bar sex offenders from working with children are ‘unfair’ and even convicted paedophiles should have the right to adopt, a leading legal academic has said.

What could it possibly hurt?

The longer time goes on, the more obvious it becomes that many in our Chattering Classes saw in the priest abuse crisis nothing but an opportunity to attack the Church and did not give two figs for the victims. I’m reminded of a scene in Perelandra where the Un-man who used to be Weston (now possessed by Satan) simply assumes the manners and appearance of a human being for the sake of temptation and then just as easily doffs them when finished with whatever lie he needed to persuasively tell.

Normal people are sickened by the crimes of pedophile priests because they retain the capacity to see and be repelled by evil. But the Chatterers who once offered impassioned protests against the Church are now apologists for Roman Polanksi and Woody Allen, or people who seriously propose this obscenity. They simply doff their appearance of concern for victims as soon as it is no longer useful for that particular line of attack on the Church and take up another avenue of attack on the good without a moment’s hesitation. It really does strike me as demonic.

Also, as John Allen points out, when Chattering Classes pull this stuff, they paradoxically strengthen the hands of the Circle the Wagons types in the Church, who are happy to say that everything is fine and the priest abuse crisis is a figment of media imagination.
