The best thing about political controversy?

All good fun, but still, as somebody who, you know, has no health or dental insurance and is relying on the grace of God because there is no human system in place to keep us from bankruptcy should I get a gallstone or one of my kids break a leg, I find myself not particularly moved by the spectacle of Catholics offering me little besides “celebrities are dumb”. Any positive suggestions or are we stuck with mere commands to accept the status quo?

Oh. Wait. I do get the periodic advice: “Shut up. Stop being obedient to your vocation. Abandon writing, and go get a job with a big corporation.” But I have this notion that Catholics should encourage small business and help little independent people, not herd them into big corporations and deny them and their loved ones health care until they comply. It will be nice when the Right offers some idea besides “No”.
