Just wanted to toss to you my recent post that may help some people chill out who is and isn’t going to Heaven and “strive to enter in.”
Your thoughts are always welcome.
It’s notable that when people in the gospels attempt to play that perennial favorite game of “Guess which of us is saved and which is damned” Jesus never gives a straight answer to a straight question. Instead, he answers, not the question, but the questioner. To one who is unsure he replies, “Make every effort to enter in.” To the apostles, he promises thrones in heaven–and tremendous persecution, if they continue to follow him. To the Pharisee who is dead certain of his heavenly reward for his prideful rectitude, he say, “How can you escape the damnation of hell?” His answers are always directed to the person called to relationship with himself, not to abstractions apart from himself.
