What fun!

Over at John C. Wright’s blog, sundry materialists are busy contradicting themselves and performing bits of hand-waving to get past the insuperable difficulties with their dogmatic materialism.

One guy tries to invoke Occam’s razor in order to claim that physical reality is “all there is”–blissfully unaware that Occam’s Razor is not a physical reality yet is quite real, as is, oh, all of mathematics. Moral: don’t go up against the author of Eifelheim if you are going to champion flat-footed materialism.

Meantime, in the comboxes on this thread, a gleeful time is had taking apart the favorite bit of incantation and pixie dust currently in use by materialist to get rid of the supernatural: the notion that anything inexplicable by materialism can be “explained” by invoking “emergent properties”. It’s crap and John C. Wright, Michael Flynn, and sundry others have fun showing why.
