…lives out his thralldom in perfectly predictable (to Chestertonians) way.

A reader writes:

Just to demonstrate exactly how clever our reporters are.

NY Times economics reporter hasn’t paid his mortgage in eight months and is
waiting for them to foreclose.
It was a liar’s loan and he and his wife didn’t
exactly control their spending.

Megan McArdle discovered that he left something out — of the book even: his
wife has filed for bankruptcy, more than once — once while married to him
.

Whereupon he explains: he didn’t think it important. Besides, it was only
because she had borrowed $30,000 from her sister, who had sued to try to get it
back.

This guy can’t figure out some connection between his wife’s bankruptcies and
their inability to make ends meet, and he’s reporting on economics for the NY Times.
