“A Fundamentally Religious Work”: The Theology of Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings“
Dr. Robin Chapman Stacey
Department of History, University of WashingtonProfessor Stacey’s interest in Tolkien began in high school when she read The Lord of the Rings for the first time. Recognizing the importance of Tolkien’s works, she has developed a course on Tolkien for the UW Honors Program. In her lecture, she will address some of the spiritual and theological questions raised by Tolkien’s renowned trilogy.
Robin Chapman Stacey is Professor of History at the University of Washington. She is a recipient of the UW’s Distinguished Teaching Award and a past holder of a number of prestigious fellowships, including ones from the Fulbright Association, the American Council of Learned Societies, and the Guggenheim Foundation.
Otto Miller Hall is located near the corner of Nickerson and Third Avenue West, directly across the street from the Royal Brougham Pavilion.
