My question is “Why are we living in a country where somebody who makes Obama ‘Joker” posters is referred to as a ‘suspect’?” Yeah, yeah. Defacing property. Duly noted. And that is, of course, so very very different from the *thousands* of political scraps of paper, blues band ads, rock band ads, BUSHITLER cartoons and so forth that are plastered on fifty bazillion walls in fifty bazillion cities all over the world without any notice whatsoever by the MSM. Nobody... Read more

Author calls forend of ‘academic embargo’ on G.K. Chesterton In the immortal words of the American Chesterton Society President Dale Ahlquist: “Who is this guy and why haven’t I heard of him?” Why haven’t you heard of him? There are three answers to this question: 1. I don’t know. 2. You’ve been cheated. 3. Chesterton is the most unjustly neglected writer of our time. Perhaps it is proof that education is too important to be left to educators and that... Read more

Pure joy in the comboxes happens when a reader writes: Regarding your books on the Marian teachings of the Catholic Church: You’ll love this story. I’m a prison chaplain (Anglican) and I’m doing a Bible study in the inter-faith dorm when one of the guys asks about the belief in the perpetual virginity of the Virgin Mary. As a way of helping the majority Protestant crowd grasp Catholic reverence for Mary, I speak of her as the “Ark” of the... Read more

This may be rather too depressing… It makes me think of Orwell, whose non-fiction essays I am currently reading. Note that this is an argument in FAVOUR of private medicine because public regulations would become too burdensome for Morgentaler and his henchpersons. For the record, I am in favour of public health care as opposed to the current system used in the USA as a matter of social justice, but when I see stuff like this, I just don’t think... Read more

I just spoke to the Diocese of San Diego yesterday and they will be giving Mary, Mother of the Son an imprimatur. So, in that case, at least, I hope your fears about me are allayed. Next time, if you could just write me and present your concerns, that would be nice. If you want the general biblical guidelines they are found here: “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone.... Read more

Reader Carbon Monoxide has a job! He writes: I have just been offered a wonderful job in Knoxville, TN. I will be moving the whole family there at the end of the next school year (or sooner if they don’t rebel). The offer was so good, I’m almost afraid it is some perverse joke that is being played on me. I will be implementing “intelligent grid” projects in the US and Europe, helping to reduce CO2 and make a safer,... Read more
